Introduction

It is felt that the publication of this book fulfills the demand, among the art-minded, for a new book that is both complete and modern on the subject of the human anatomy, and at the same time being kept in the popular priced field.

There are many fine book on this subject on the market today, each book having its particularly outstanding good points. However, as a result of a nation-wide survey, it has been found that some of these books are either too complicated in their approach or are entirely out of the price range of the present day pocketbook.

In this book we have tried to analyze and simplify for creative purposes, most of the important elements of the human body, both male and female. Rather than handling the construction and mechanics of the bones, muscles and figure drawing in separate books or treatises, we have combined them all in one.

Nothing is more important to the future of the professional artist than sound draughtsmanship, and it is only through a thorough knowledge of the human anatomy that such draughtsmanship can be obtained.

Because of the fact that artists in every branch of the profession are interested in this subject, we are confident that this book will reach a far greater audience than any of the other four art books, written and illustrated by tl author.
