Originally published in 1944 this is a very complete introduction to drawing the figure with strong illustrations by the author. Most pages combine a shaded illustration with a schematic illustration of forms of anatomy which make up the shade illustration. 28 Pages with illustrations on every page.

A WORD ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Studied at the ART STUDENTS LEAGUE and taught anatomy, life drawing and commercial art at the New York School of Art for professionals only. Hs executed many murals for celebrated individuals and institutions. He has been one of the first to create silk screen art technique and is the foremost exponent of the airbrush in art. Has created many trademarks, illustrations and posters, for corporations of national and international repute. He is a very busy and successful artist, whose study and application of anatomy has extended over 25 years.

FROM THE FOREWORD

Art anatomy is the understanding of the architecture and construction of the human figure. It consists of, first, the bones which form the foundation of man, in common with all mammals. Second, the muscles which when contracted move the framework or skeleton. Third, the action which such movement assumes.

Each of the above three are again broken down in this fashion. The individual bones of the skeleton varies greatly in length, breadth, thickness and curvature. This governs proportion.
